Logson Group snaps up the Cardboard Box Company

Corrugated specialist Logson Group has acquired the Cardboard Box Company, a sheet plant based in Accrington.

The move is aimed to meet increasing demands in high growth sectors such as home retail, FMCG and point of sale. The Cardboard Box Company has a turnover of more than £17m with a workforce of 90.

Peter Street, owner and founder of the Cardboard Box Company, said: “It has been a great journey since I first entered the packaging sector with the Cardboard Box Company in 1999. I have great trust in the Logson team to guide the business on the next stage of the journey. They know us well and understand the culture we have worked so hard to develop. I look forward to supporting the business in an ambassadorial role for many years to come.”

Alex Kelly, chief executive of Logson Group, said: “Having courted Peter [Street] for many years, we are delighted to have finally acquired, what we believe, is one of the UK’s finest sheet plants.”

Ken Shackleton managing director at the Cardboard Box Company, will continue to lead the business. He said: “This is a great fit for our business, the Logson approach will allow us to maintain our identity and entrepreneurial flair, backed by the financial strength and scale of the UK’s largest independent corrugated packaging group.”

The Cardboard Box Company will operate as standalone business within Logson Group. Other divisions in the group include Board24, Boxes and Packaging, Cases24, Boxshop and Jardin Corrugated.
